Bonnie S. Anderson was born May 16, 1943 to Robert B. Sour, a songwriter and music business executive, and his wife Geraldine (Scofield) Sour, an interior decorator. She attended Brown University, received her B.A. (summa cum laude) in 1964 and both an M.A. and Ph. D. from Columbia University.
